The Beckhoff EL3314-0002 belongs to the EL EtherCAT Terminal Series and is designed for temperature and voltage measurement with an accuracy of 4 ch. The entity provides 24 bit resolution of the input signal, while the input thermocouples’ formats can be B, C, E, J, K, L, N, R, S, T, and U, out of which type K is default. In addition, voltage range measurements of ±78 mV and ±2.5 V have been implemented for other general industrial needs requiring the monitoring of temperature and voltage.
For more efficient data acquisition EL3314-0004 samples measurement data simultaneously on all four channels which can be crucial in time sensitive operations. It has a conversion time of less than 10 ms with a sampling rate of 0.1 ksps which makes it suitable for most real time application where monitoring is needed. Each channel operates with a differential ground to provide signal of high quality, minimizing interference.
This terminal incorporates a unique feature which can enhance fault monitoring capability and reliability, a channel by channel wire break detection. Internal and external cold junction compensation can be used enhancing thermocouple measurement accuracy. Such terminals are supplied with adjustable firmware filters to allow processing of incoming signals according to the clients’ needs. The EL3314-0002 employs a two wire connection using terminals with spring loaded features which allows for easier and secure wiring. It draws power from the E-bus making it seamlessly implementable in EtherCAT based networks. The terminal measures with an error margin that ranges between 0.1% and 0.5%, offering precision in data acquisition.
