Product Description
EL3214 is a Beckhoff EtherCAT terminal with 4-channel input. It works with analog inputs that connect to Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs), which are a type of temperature sensor that measure temperature by correlating the resistance of the RTD element with temperature. RTDs can measure a wide range of temperatures, and are widely used in industrial applications for temperature measurement and control. Four resistance sensors can connect directly to the EL3214 terminal. The sensors require 2-wire or 3-wire connection technology. The terminal can measure the resistance value in Ohms or convert it into a temperature reading. The terminal can use multiple sensor characteristics for the resistance to temperature conversion. The I/O terminal uses single-ended ground references. Power supply is available via the E-bus. The limit frequency of the input filter on the unit is 1 kilohertz.
Multiple sensor types are supported, including Ni1000, Ni120, Ni100, Pt1000, Pt500, Pt200 and Pt100. Potentiometers are also supported in the 10 to ¼ kil0ohms range. The default connection technology used by the terminal is 3-wire. Approximately 170 milliseconds are required for the conversion. Temperature measuring range for the terminal is from -200 to 850 degrees Celsius for platinum RTD sensors and-50 to 250 degrees Celsius for Nickel RTD sensors. The measuring current is load-dependent and is usually less than 0.5 milliseconds. The measurement resolution supported by the unit is 0.1 degrees Celsius per digit. The measurement uncertainty or error is less than 0.5 degree Celsius for platinum sensors. Safety is provided via the 500 Volts electrical isolation between the signal voltage and terminal E-bus. The terminal supports a number of special features, including integrated digital filter, variable connection technology and limit value monitoring.
