Product Description
The Beckhoff EL1258-0000 8-channel digital input terminal belongs to the high-speed signal input section from the EL EtherCAT Terminal Series. Its nominal voltage is 24 V DC (-15% to +20%) and requires 2-wire David technology. Overall, it is suitable for many different automation systems that needs quick retrieval and timestamping of signals.
Apart from this, it provides multi-timestamping features and less than 1 µs input filter, which eliminates great time delays in signal detection. It has internal sampling and execution times ranging from 10 to 40 µs, facilitating the detection of 100,000 edges in a second. Furthermore, the precision of distributed clocks (DC) functionality assures synchronization error 1 µs and this makes it suitable for the systems requiring timing constraints.
The ranges of input signals are in accordance with the IEC 61131-2 standards, where a 0 signal is between -3V and 5V, while a 1 signal is between 11 and 30 volts. Each of these inputs has a typical current consumption of 3ma. The terminal draws <<130mA from E-bus while 6mA from power contacts meaning the operation is power efficient within the Ether-CAT network. The EL1258-0000 weighs an approximate weight of 55 grams and has compact dimensions thanks to the IP20 protection ratings which are designed for installation in controlled environments. The operating temperature range is 0 °C up to + 55 °C and the storage temperature range is -25 °C up to +85 °C. The multi-timestamping feature, accompanied by distributed clocks synchronization, and high speed of signal processing makes the EL1258-0000 very suitable for use in such applications as high frequency sampling, motion control and precise event identification.
