The EK1122-0008 is part of the EK1122 series of EtherCAT junctions by Beckhoff. The EK1122-0008 is a 2-port EtherCAT junction that can be connected in an EtherCAT star topologies. The star topology allows for several EK1122 units to be connected to each other in a star hub formation. The EK1122-0008 has two RJ 45 sockets which are used to connect other junctions with activity status and direct display of link. The EK1122-0008 operating temperature is between -25˚C to 60˚C with a permissible relative humidity of 95% without condensation. When storing this EtherCAT junction, the temperature must be between -40˚C to 85˚C. Exceeding rated temperatures may permanently damage the unit.
The EK1122-0008 has an IP 20 rated protection and must be installed in locations that are not exposed to dirt or water. Any unused port should be fitted with blind plugs. This junction may not be connected to Fast Hot Connect ports. An incorrect allocation to the ports will trigger an error. When connecting cables to the EK1122-0008, the cable length should be less than 100 m. This is due to the FastEthernet technology which, over a cable length of 100 m, results in signal attenuation. For connection, only Ethernet connections (plugs and cables) must meet the requirements of at least category 5 (CAT5) as per EN 50173 or ISO/IEC 11801. EtherCAT uses 4 wires for signal transfer.
