The combination of several units of this device can be used to establish a modular EtherCAT start hub.

The EK1521-0000 features an SC duplex socket, which, in conjunction with a compatible EtherCAT coupler, makes the conversion from 100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX hardware possible. Also, the use of this product with the EK1521 coupler makes it possible to reach a distance of about 2 kilometers without any significant reduction in communication efficiency. Configuration is not required for the EK1521-0000 before use; also, the approximately measured delay for the product is about 1 microsecond. The housing of this product is a compact terminal housing with signal LEDs for diagnostic purposes; also, the housing material is polycarbonate, which is known for its high mechanical strength and lightweight.

The EK1521-0000 should be installed on a 35 millimeters DIN rail which conforms to EN 60715 with lock. The product also permits side-by-side mounting through the use of a doubling slot and key connection. The wiring of connection cables into the EK1521-0000 is done with a specific push-in connection.
