The CX5140-0120 industrial-PC can be DIN rail mounted because its Intel processor allows for small device construction. The Intel Atom quad-core processor has the added advantage of the Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology. Furthermore, a clock speed of 1.91 GHz ensures that the PC doesn’t delay the execution of critical commands even for a second. The system’s housing has been intentionally designed to be compact and lightweight. Magnesium metal has been used for the construction of the external housing. Magnesium has been known to impart additional mechanical strength while keeping the body weight to a minimum. The overall low power consumption means that this IPC can afford a fan-less design.
The CX5140-0120 can be directly connected to Beckhoff’s Bus Terminals and EtherCAT Terminals. The system can be operated with visualization and is supported by the TwinCAT software. TwinCAT allows the PC to exercise real-time control over the machinery and act as a multi-PLC system. The CX5140-0120 runs on 24 Volts DC voltage and can function seamlessly in conditions where the relative humidity is below 95%. The device has a 142 mm width, a 100 mm height, and a 92 mm depth.
