The CX9020-0111-0900 is a next generation Embedded PC based on Beckhoff CX Series. It features a 1 GHz Arm Cortex A8 processor rated for single core execution and is capable of handling most automation applications running on one core. It addresses systems that require dependable processing performance without sacrificing miniature size. There is provision for upgrade in addition to the already installed 512 MB - 2 x microSD card slots, and there is 512 MB of fixed memory. The basic performance should not be an issue with the inclusion of 1 GB of DDR3 RAM though there’s no provision for upgrade.

The CX9020-0111-0900 has several connections available by providing options for 2 x RJ45 ports for 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet (internal switch), 1 x DVI-D for display output, and 4 x USB 2.0 ports for peripheral devices. More than this, the device comes equipped with 1 optional interface, which could further expand the use for different industrial automation applications. The design of the device incorporates only passive means of cooling. The operating system embedded in the device is Windows Embedded Compact 7 in order to provide a robust and dependable application runtime environment. Control software systems incorporate the TwinCAT 2 and TwinCAT 3 (XAR) runtimes tailored for process control applications.

The CX9020-0111-0900 accepts E-bus or K-bus connections, which are self-wiring connections to eliminate the guesswork in installation. Power is drawn from an external source fitted with a -15%/+20% 24 V DC power supply, while inside the apparatus, 128 kB of Novram is to keep data safe when the apparatus is turned off. Each of which are provided to both E-bus and K-bus at 2 A each. For its amazing capacity the CX9020-0111-0900 has in consumption of power only 5 W.
