The CX5020-1100 is a member of the Beckhoff CX Embedded PC Series, which is built around the Intel Atom® Z530 processor running at 1.6 GHz. In this unit, it has been implemented a single core setup to efficiently control several different tasks.

Including a 128 MB Compact Flash card for storage (expandable), the freedom of selecting ways to store, manage and deploy your data, and application flexibility. With 512 MB RAM, it can optionally be factory-expanded to 1 GB for larger applications. The Compact Flash card has a 1 SEC UPS integrated directly into the embedded PC and ensures uninterrupted operation as well as data integrity on short power failures. The connectivity of the CX5020-1100 includes two RJ45 interfaces supporting 10/100/1000 Mbit/s for connectivity; one DVI-D for display; four USB 2.0 ports for peripherals and an additional slot for optional interface, allowing it flexibility for use in industrial environments. It has passive cooling so is suited to harsh industrial applications, without worrying about mechanical cooling failure. The unit has several diagnostics LEDs, Power, TC Status, flash access, and bus status are all enabled for quick troubleshooting and off-glance status indication. It also has an internal battery-backed clock to keep time and date, with a replaceable battery to keep going and going for time-sensitive applications.

Windows Embedded CE 6 or Windows Embedded Standard 2009 runs the CX5020-1100, creating a strong foundation for running Beckhoff's TwinCAT 2 or TwinCAT 3 runtime control software. Automatic recognition of E-bus or K-bus interface with support of both enables easy integration into existing bus systems. The requirement of power supply is 24 VDC, tolerances are -15%/+20% and maximum power consumption is 13 W. The embedded PC is 106 mm x 100 mm x 92 mm in dimensions, which allows it to be held in a small form factor and be used in several industrial applications.
