The Beckhoff Embedded PC CX Series, model CX5010-1121 has a single-core Intel Atom Z510 processor with a clock rate of 1.1GHz. This model also supports a Compact Flash slot, and it is shipped with a 128 MB Compact Flash card with the option of adding more memory.

The memory subsystem consists of a non-removable, soldered 512 MB of RAM which supports the installed OS versions: Windows Embedded CE 6, Windows Embedded Standard 2009. The CX5010-1121 comes with the following connectivity options; two 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet RJ45 ports, one DVI-D port for digital video output, and four USB 2.0 ports for other devices. There is also the possibility to have an optional interface card that can be adapted to the requirements of an individual client. The system uses passive cooling to increase the chances of having few failures due to mechanical stress and less maintenance. Some of the features are indicator LEDs which give a quick look at the power status, TC status, flash access, and the bus status, which are very useful in the diagnosis of the system. The internal clock is backed by a battery and is designed to keep time and date even when the mains power is out, and like most modern devices, the battery is easily interchangeable.

For I/O connections this model employs an E-bus or K-bus with automatic recognition meaning that there is no need to configure or integrate with the system. The main voltage is 24 V DC with an allowance of -15% to +20% and the maximum power consumption is 12W only. The size of the unit is 106mm x 100mm x 92mm to ensure that it can be fitted in various industrial applications without occupying a large space.
