Beckhoff’s Embedded PC CX series, specifically the model CX2040-0135-3002 is an industrial computer designed with an Intel® Core™ i7 2715QE processor. This processor is a 2.1 GHz quad-core, which means that it has four processing units and is capable of handling a large amount of information as expected in industrial automation.

The embedded PC has expandable storage with a 20 GB or 40 GB CFast flash card, depending on the operating system that has been chosen and it is possible to expand the storage if required. This model comes with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and as we know RAM is not upgradable in this model, so for multitasking purposes, it is well-suited. As for the connectivity, this model is provided with two fast Ethernet RJ45 ports, a DVI-I video output, and four USB 2.0 connectors for further peripherals. It also contains an option for another interface that may help define the system by certain conditions. The cooling system is an integrated fan with ball bearings and speed control. Diagnostic features are also well-developed; there are LEDs for power, TC status, flash access, and bus status. This device also has a built-in battery calendar which saves time and has a replaceable battery for the same.

The operating systems supported are Windows Embedded Standard 7 P (64-bit) and TwinCAT 3 runtime (XAR), although no licenses are supplied with the product. The I/O connections are made possible by a power supply module that can detect E-bus or K-bus connections on its own. The power supply of the embedded PC is via a 24 V DC source with a tolerance of -15%/+20%. The device has a power consumption of 32 W and a weight of 1230 grams, which makes it a reliable and easy-to-carry solution for different industrial conditions.
