Beckhoff’s model CX2030-01 is a solid part of the Embedded PC CX Series that impresses with its high-performance parameters. On the hardware side, it runs on an Intel Core i7 2610UE processor with a clocking rate of 1.5 GHz, which is a dual-core processor that is suitable for processing heavy tasks.

The memory facility installed in this system includes a 2 GB DDR3 RAM that can be upgraded to 4 GB RAM to meet most industrial needs. Storage options are not fixed and the operating system installed determines the use of either a 20GB or 40GB CFast flash card. This storage is also expandable to allow for usage in applications that may need more space to store information. The following operating systems are available with this model: Windows Embedded Compact 7, Windows Embedded Standard 7 P, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2016 LTSB, and TwinCAT/BSD. To connect with other devices, it has two 10/100/1000 Mbit/s RJ45 ports, one DVI-I for video output, and four USB 2.0 ports for peripherals. There is also an option of including an interface when there are specific needs to be met. The CX2030-01 features passive cooling and has one fan slot for adding an extra fan if extra cooling is required. Diagnostic functions are rather advanced, including the Power, TC status, Flash access, and Bus status LEDs, to make it easy to control the system status. The internal clock is backed up with a battery, therefore time and date will not be affected even in a power failure.

The I/O connections are controlled by a power supply module, with all E-bus and K-bus options available and auto-detection. The voltage interface is 24V DC with the power supply reference of -15%/+20%. The system’s maximum power consumption is 27 W. Although the device has all the mentioned features, it retains a reasonable weight of about 1165 g, thus suitable for use in different installations.
