This unit is equipped with an Intel® Celeron® M ULV central processing unit working at the 1 GHz clock frequency, which qualifies it for real time tasks. It is a single core processor which delivers a stable performance, ideal for an automation kind of operating environment.

The CX1020-0120 incorporates 256 mb DDR RAM, which in the workshop can be enlarged up to 1 GB, which allows such a module compatibility with more complex applications. For storage purposes, the module has a Compact Flash card slot; included flash memory is of 128 MB, but more flash memory could be inserted if there is a need for further storage space. Moreover, two RJ45 Ethernet ports operating with 10/100 Mbit/s connections, with a built-in switch for the efficient communication in the network are available in this model. It utilizes passive heat dissipation, but an internal (active) cooling system can be configured to support heat-intensive operating conditions in advance.

The enclosure also has some status lights such as power LED, LAN link/activity LED, TwinCAT status LED and LED for flash access, enhancing the monitoring of the system performance in troubleshooting. Also, there is a clock that is battery backed up and runs all the time, even when there is no power present. The CX1020-0120 operates on Windows Embedded CE 6 or Windows Embedded Standard 2009, and it supports TwinCAT 2 PLC runtime, NC PTP runtime, and NC I runtime and so it can be used effectively in areas like Motion control and Automation. It interfaces with I/O modules through the 16-bit ISA (PC/104) system bus and with power supply modules via E-bus, K-bus or IP-Link.
