The CP7201-0021-0040 is one of Beckhoff’s economy-panel PCs that boasts a powerful Intel processor, fit for executing and processing various automation tasks. Primarily, the CP7201-0021-0040 provides an interface for visualizing automation processes and monitoring mechanical components. Aside from visualization functions, it can also perform various IoT, HMI, and data handling functions. Depending on the intended application, the available sizes of the CP7201-0021-0040’s display diagonal are 12” (800 by 600 pixels), 15” (1024 by 768 pixels), and 19” (1280 by 1024 pixels). To run properly, the CP7201-0021-0040 must be connected to a 24 VDC power supply unit through the unit’s round 12-pin socket (X 101).

If an uninterruptable power supply is available, Pins 1 and 2 of the CP7201-0021-0040 may be used to connect an external battery. The CP7201-0021-0040 also features a 3.5” motherboard, DDR4-RAM, and a 2.5” SSD. Beckhoff’s CP7201-0021-0040 also supports communication via its Ethernet RJ45 interface. The X106 socket establishes Ethernet communication with data rates of 100/1000/2500 Mbps. Aside from its touch-screen display, Ethernet interface, powerful processor, and high storage capability, the CP7201-0021-0040 also supports a wide variety of optional interfaces to further expand the panel’s capabilities. Some of the supported optional interfaces for the CP7201-0021-0040 are the CP9900-E185, CP9900-E186, and CP9900-E187. The CP9900-E185 provides an interface for an extra Ethernet adapter, while the CP9900-E186 provides a port for the RS232 communication protocol.
