The BX3100-0000 belongs to one of Beckhoff’s BX series of Bus Terminal controllers which has an ability to perform as well as provide a wide range of flexibility for use in the automation industry. Its program memory is 256 Kbytes, while for data memory is 256 Kbytes and remanent data is 2 Kbytes plus and additional 1 Kbyte persistent data. Most of these memory resources provision enough room for program and data storage, thus making the BX3100 ideal for use in demanding automation application. The controller supports 1 PLC task and consumes about 1 ms then 1,000 instructions for an NSF PLC program ensuring that the control logic execution is effectively and quickly processed.

The BX3100-0000 includes the possibility of programming in accordance with the standard IEC 61131-3 in which the IL, LD, FBD, SFC and ST languages can be applied. The machine is true to the online change strategy without stopping the machine and allows the programming of codes to upload and download remotely. The controller is capable of up to 234 bytes of data input and 234 bytes of data output from the fieldbus via which I/O data for remotes may be transported.

This controller is quite flexible in that it can connect as many as 2040 digital peripheral signals and 512 analog peripheral signals making it appropriate for applications that need a lot of I/O connections. There is a 9-pin D-sub socket for a bus interface with the device, which can also recognize data transfer rates of up to 12 Mbaud automatically. Such features provide effective interaction with associated devices and upper-level systems.
