The Beckhoff BK8100-1001 is a compact bus coupler from the BK EtherCAT Bus Coupler Series, designed to accommodate up to 64 bus terminals and ideal for efficient control and data communication in industrial automation systems. This coupler features a compact terminal housing made of durable polycarbonate, with signal LEDs to provide clear status indications during operation. Its small footprint, measuring 51 mm (W) x 100 mm (H) x 69 mm (D), makes it easy to install in space-constrained environments.

The BK8100-1001 is mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail in accordance with EN 60715, and it includes a locking mechanism for secure installation. Its side-by-side mounting capability is facilitated by a double slot and key connection, allowing for streamlined assembly alongside other components in the series. This design ensures flexibility and scalability, particularly in applications where multiple bus couplers need to be installed together.

The device supports both solid and flexible conductors, as well as ferrules, with a connection cross-section ranging from 0.08 to 2.5 mm² for solid and flexible conductors, and 0.14 to 1.5 mm² for ferrules. The stripping length required for wiring is 8 to 9 mm, making it easy to connect wiring during installation. The current load power contacts support a maximum of 10 A, ensuring sufficient power distribution across connected devices. In terms of data handling, the BK8100-1001 can process up to 512 bytes for input and output on the fieldbus, supporting 512 digital peripheral signals and 256 analog peripheral signals. It uses an open, well-documented protocol for data transfer, allowing for easy integration into various industrial automation systems.
