Product Description
The B & R Automation's X20DS1928 is an intelligent I/O module that belongs to X20 Series designed for industrial use. This module is especially designed for a connection with EnDat 2.1/2.2 encoder inputs. The X20DS1928 has a status indicator for counting direction, operating status and module status which gives the user a quick visual view on the status of the module and how it is performing. A feature of the X20DS1928 is that it is compatible with EnDat encoder inputs. EnDat is an electrical interface for encoders which enables feedback of high resolution position data as well as efficient data transfer. DC coupling is provided in the module which is bidirectional and functional up to a signal frequency of 400 kHz.
The design of the module makes it necessary to use shielded cables for all the signal lines to minimize the effects of electromagnetic interference or EMI and also to enhance signal quality over longer distances. It has a maximum encoder cable length of up to 10 meters hence can be easily integrated into different industrial environments. For sine/cosine signals the value of the differential voltage is 1 VSS and the angular position resolution is given by 13-bit (1 VSS). As for the power, It has the power consumption of only 0.01 W of power from the bus and 0.3 W of internal I/O power. For power supply of the encoder, the module delivers 5V ~5% output voltage.
The overload-proof and short-circuit-proof of the X20DS1928 also ensure that the modules and all the components connected are also protected from any electrical defaults that may lead to their destruction. It is designed to work under the temperature condition of -25 to 60 C when mounted horizontally and -25 to 50 C when mounted vertically which makes it suitable for varying industrial applications. Besides, it can also withstand various storage and transport conditions ranging from -40 to 85 degree Celsius.
