The X20DO8322 is a digital output module that belongs to the X20 Series instruments from B & R Automation. This module is designed to work at a nominal voltage of 24VDC making it capable of delivering power to the connected devices. It supports 1-wire connections. This X20DO8322 comes in with a total of four digital outputs and each of them is designed for a nominal output current of 0.5 A. In terms of current handling capabilities, the specific module has a nominal throughput of 4 A, hence making it ideal for applications that require moderate amounts of current. It is designed to run at 24 VDC with an operating voltage variation of ~ 15 percent from the standard value.
For diagnostics the device has indications: the signals of I/O functions, operation mode and the module state. Such indicators are accompanied by status LEDs and software diagnostics so that it is easy to determine the condition of the module and its efficiency. The power consumption is low as can be seen from the photograph, the module has been designed with power efficiency in mind and thus consumes 0.26 W from the bus and 0.8 W for internal I/O processes. This product is endowed with thermal cutoff protection. This is a protective measure that is engaged whenever there is an occurrence of over current or over shooting of circuit, which makes the output to be disconnected to avoid harming the module as well as any equipment that may be connected to it.
The module is suited to varied temperatures due to its efficiency in a temperature range of -25 to 60 degrees C when placed in a horizontal fashion and -25 to 50 degrees C when placed in a vertical way. This large range of temperature operation maintains operating performance throughout the several climate ranges. In terms of storage the module is quite versatile in that it can handle temperatures ranging from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, thus encompassing various storage and shipping options. In the off state, the leakage current is low at 5uA which assists in reducing the power loss and improving on the efficiency. For protection against accidental contact with internal components and larger solid objects the X20DO8322 is housed in an IP20 rated enclosure.
