The B & R Automation X20DO4332 is a digital output module of the X20 series which is an industrial automation device that is used in controlling output signals in industries. This module has four digital outputs with the maximum output current of 2A per channel and the overall maximum current of 8A. The X20DO4332 module is powered by 24 VDC voltage with a switching voltage range of 24 VDC (+/- 15 %).
The X20DO4332 comprises source output circuits, and hence it supplies current to the load. This configuration is desirable in applications that require the outputs to supply positive voltage to the devices which are connected. It employs 3-wire connections which ensures that there are power supply lines for the actuator namely 24VDC and ground. The module incorporates an efficient output protection mechanism such as a thermal cutoff that is triggered in case of over current or short circuit. Also it has an internal inverse diode to protect from the polarities of power connections that are in the wrong way.
The X20DO4332 has diagnostic functions that are essential to the system as it has status indicators and errors reporting features. Every output channel has got status LEDs that depict I/O function, status of operation and the module in general. These LEDs are easy and straightforward providing a visual and quick assessment of the module's status and condition. In addition, the module also incorporates the diagnostics for module run/error conditions through LEDs and software. It is also versatile in terms of installation as the X20DO4332 can be mounted either in the horizontal or vertical position to meet the configuration of the system. It is intended for use in conditions that are typical for the industrial environment and has an IP20 enclosure rating according to the EN 60529 standard.
As for power consumption, the module is rather power efficient, with the bus power consumption of 0.16 W and internal I/O power consumption is 0.49 W. The module also has peak short circuit current of less than 4A.
