Product Description
The X20DC1198-C01 belongs to a unique class of the X20 series manufactured by the company B&R Industrial Automation. It serves as a digital counter module, which houses a synchronous serial interface (SSI) encoder. SSI encoders monitor a machine or component's angle, position, and rotation during operation. These encoders are heavily used in automated industrial systems to ensure accurate and safe operation of the monitored machines. The X20DC1198-C01's SSI encoder uses 5 volts of supply and withstands a maximum supply current of 300 mA. Aside from its SSI encoder, the X20DC1198-C01 also features two additional digital inputs that may control binary X20 units or third-party components.
During operation, the X20DC1198-C01 provides status indicators for its channels and for determining the module's operating state or status. Errors can also be easily monitored using the X20DC1198-C01's LEDs and software. The X20DC1198-C01's main bus draws 0.01 watts while its integrated input/output interface consumes at least 1.5 watts. As mentioned earlier, the X20DC1198-C01 offers two digital inputs with a 24 VDC terminal voltage and approximately 3.3 mA of input current. These digital inputs use 3-wire connections and are considered as sinks in the electrical system. Overall, the input resistance for these digital inputs is 7.19 kOhms.
The X20DC1198-C01's SSI encoder uses Gray/Binary coding and facilitates a maximum transfer rate of 1 Mbps. The encoder is also protected against overloading and short circuit faults. The X20DC1198-C01's encoder and channel are separated electrically from the main bus. However, channels for this module are not electrically isolated. To use this module, an appropriate bus module and terminal block must be used. X20DC1198-C01's datasheet recommends the X20TB12 terminal block, containing 12-pins and requiring 24 VDC.
