Product Description

The X20DC1178 developed by B & R Automation is engineered for precision in industrial automation tasks.

This I/O module from X20 Series is particularly suited for interfacing with a single SSI absolute encoder. It also includes two digital inputs which ensures flexibility and expanded functionality within a broad range of industrial environments. This I/O module accommodates one SSI absolute encoder input with a symmetrical 5 V signal. It supports a counter size of up to 32 bits which depends on the specific encoder used. It ensures reliable data transfer with a maximum rate of 1 Mbit/s and offers strong electrical isolation between channels and the bus. The encoder power supply is designed to be short-circuit and overload-proof which delivers 5 VDC and 24 VDC outputs with a maximum current of 300 mA. The B&R X20DC1178 features two digital inputs and each input has a nominal voltage of 24 VDC, an input resistance of 7.03 kiloOhm, and a high switching threshold of >15 VDC. The inputs are filtered with a hardware response time of 2 us to enhance processing speed and accuracy.

The X20DC1178 complies with UKCA, CE and ATEX Zone 2 standards. It operates within a temperature spectrum of -25 to 60 degrees C when mounted horizontally and -25 to 50 degrees C when mounted vertically. The module offers IP20 protection as per EN 60529 standards. The module is also compatible with SafeLOGIC controllers which ensures secure automation control. It requires separate orders for terminal block X20TB12 and bus module X20BM11 for installation. The X20 module is resistant to vibrations up to 4 g which makes it suitable for challenging environments where stability and durability are crucial.
