The B&R Automation range of I/O modules include the versatile X20DC1176 designed for connecting ABR incremental encoders. This module features an ABR incremental encoder interface that operates with symmetrical 5 V encoder inputs, enabling reliable signal processing for various applications. It features two digital inputs designed for 24 VDC nominal voltage. The inputs utilize sink configuration, connecting the load to the negative terminal. The module uses 3-wire connections for its digital inputs, allowing for straightforward wiring with power, ground, and signal lines. Each input boasts a resistance of 7.03 kΩ, which helps to ensure stable signal detection.

This module offers users options to customize features based on their particular application requirements. It supports both 16-bit and 32-bit counter sizes, allowing for customizable resolution. With a maximum input frequency of 600 kHz, the module can effectively handle high-speed signals in fast-moving processes. The module is also compatible with B&R's SafeLOGIC controller, enabling integration into safety-critical automation applications.
