X20CP1583 is an entry-level X20 series controller. An Intel Atom processor clocked at 333 MHz provides processing and computational power. The controller is equipped with 128 MB DDR2 RAM. This controller is available at an optimal price/performance ratio with features that are available on higher-end controllers. Standard controller features include removable CompactFlash, Ethernet, USB, and Powerlink connectivity. The Powerlink interface supports PRC or poll response chaining for enhanced network performance. An expansion slot on the controller allows installation of an additional communication module. This expansion slot allows integrated of X20 systems into multiple network and bus systems for two-way data exchange. Fanless cooling provides effective heat dissipation. The IP20 rated housing provides sufficient ingress protection for indoor use. One RS-232 serial interface is available with 115.2 kbps maximum data transfer rate.
Two USB Type A interface are also available that can provide maximum 0.5 Amps output current. Power consumption of the X20CP1583 controller is 8.2 Watts without interface module or USB. The X2X link supply draws 1.42 Watts. Internal I/O on the controller consume 0.6 Watts. The real-time clock on the X20CP1583 controller is nonvolatile with 1 second resolution and -10 to 10 ppm accuracy at 25 degrees Celsius. A FPU or floating point unit is available for complex mathematical calculations. The L1 cache has 24 kB for data code and 32 kB for program code. The integrated I/O processor performs I/O data point calculations in the background. Memory for remanent variables is 65 kB. The shortest task cycle time is 800 microseconds and the typical instruction cycle time is 0.01 microsecond. User RAM on the controller is 1 MB SRAM. Horizontal and vertical mounting options are available.
