The X20BM31 is appropriate for interfacing double-width X20 I/O modules. At its core, the X20BM31 functions as a base for interconnecting wide X20 unit modules while enabling multi-power allocation during operation. With this bus module, it is possible to supply different voltages and, consequently, power ratings to the interfaced devices. The X20BM31 uses a keyed 24 VDC supply voltage and integrates an interconnected internal I/O supply. In case a coated version of this bus module is necessary, B&R Automation released an alternative product under the product name X20cBM31. Both modules, however, function the same way and share almost all their features except the coating.

Based on its documentation, the X20BM31 functions at a power rating of 0.13 watts and between -25 and 60 degrees Celsius. The temperature range given, however, is only applicable when the module's orientation is horizontal. When the module's orientation is vertical, the applicable temperature range is between -25 and 50 degrees Celsius. During transport, the applicable temperature range is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The same temperature range applies when storing this bus module. Regardless of the status and conditions, however, the applicable relative humidity for this bus module must stay within the 5 to 95 percent range.
