Product Description
The X20BM05 is B&R Automation's advanced power supply base module, which allows creation of several voltage groups during operation. It offers manual node assignment using its node number switches, making it a flexible module for a variety of applications. Although this module introduces manual node assignment, automatic addressing may also be used. For this bus module, the leftmost interface is assigned for the internal I/O power supply. It also incorporates an isolated electronics module and runs at a keyed voltage rating of 24 volts DC.
Assuming no operational issues, the bus consumes 0.13 watts and allows a maximum load current of 10 amperes. Like other bus modules, the X20BM05 permits horizontal and vertical installation orientations. These orientations, however, result in different recommended operating ranges. For horizontal installation, the X20BM05's recommended ambient temperature is between -25 and 60 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, when installed vertically, the applicable ambient temperature range is between -25 and 50 degrees Celsius. Regardless of the orientation of the installation, the relative humidity must not be less than 5 percent and greater than 95 percent. Furthermore, the relative humidity must be non-condensing.
Referring to the X20BM05's documentation, the X20BM05 features an IP 20 degree of protection according to the standards of EN 60529. The degree of protection, or protection category, is a standard code that describes the extent to which a material or device is protected from intrusion of foreign objects and liquids. The first digit implies that the X20BM05 is protected against accidental contact with objects having a diameter of 12 mm or larger. On the other hand, the second digit implies no protection against liquid jet application in any direction.
