The X20BC00G3 bus controller module functions as an EtherCAT slave in control systems, facilitating efficient communication between devices. It is part of the B&R Automation range of EtherCAT communication modules suited for high speed data transfer in automation setups. This module offers automatic configuration of I/O modules where it detects and sets up any connected I/O modules without manual intervention. This allows seamless integration of new modules to the system enhancing system efficiency. The module also supports firmware updates directly through the fieldbus, allowing users to configure I/O settings and keep the system up-to-date.

The X20BC00G3 module utilizes the EtherCAT fieldbus for communication, receiving and sending data from a central controller, or "master." It features two shielded RJ45 ports which provide stable connections for reliable transmission of data. The module offers flexibility in connections, accommodating distances of up to 100 meters for each connection. It offers a 100 Mbit/s transfer rate, delivering fast speeds for enhanced system efficiency. To protect the system from damage, the module is equipped with electrical isolation that separates the EtherCAT network from the bus and the I/O connections. It also provides real-time diagnostics via LED signals that indicate the module status and bus function.

This module can be installed in horizontal or vertical orientation to suit different setups and application needs. The unit is recommended for installation in elevations up to 2000 meters. It functions optimally in ambient conditions ranging between 0 to 55°C, permitting use in standard industrial environments. Its housing is sealed against external objects larger than 12 mm per IP 20 standards but it is not sealed against moisture. The module is suited for controlled environments with minimal exposure to moisture or dust.
