Product Description
The X20BB47 is also another bus base module expertly crafted by the renowned automation company, B&R Industrial. It serves as a versatile bus base for the X20 series' Fieldbus CPUs. Like the X20BB37, the X20BB47 provides interfaces for facilitating both the CAN bus and RS232 communication protocols. With this in mind, the X20BB47 also offers a switch for controlling the integrated terminal resistor for the CAN bus. Unlike other bus base modules, this bus base provides two slots for interface modules. The interface modules are the ones responsible for actually initiating and completing communication. The rightmost slot in the X20BB47 is dedicated for the bus controller.
Surprisingly, although the X20BB47 provides an extra interface slot, its nominal power consumption is only 0.56 watts. This estimated power is the total consumption of the bus without any resistive actuators contributing to the power demand. At any point in time, the X20BB47's I/O power supply permits 10 amperes of current contact load and sits with a nominal voltage of 24 VDC. The voltage routing for this bus base module assigns the bottommost route for the ground, while the route above it is for the positive voltage rail at 24 V.
As per EN 60529, the X20BB47's degree of protection class is IP20. Such protection category implies that the bus module prevents accidental contact with objects 12 mm in diameter, for instance, human fingers. The bus module, however, does not offer any resistance to moisture or liquids. To keep it in pristine condition, therefore, the X20BB47 must be properly mounted, stored, and operated in favorable environments with little exposure to small particulates, dust, and liquids. The left and right cover end plates for this bus module come for free upon purchase.
