The B&R Automation part number 3IF621. 9 is a highly developed interface module in the SYSTEM 2005 used to improve the communication and networking functions in industrial automation systems. This module is uniquely equipped with both an RS485/RS422 interface and a CAN interface, each designed for specific communication needs: The RS485/RS422 interface is mainly applied for the visualization and networking through various protocols for instance the NET2000 and the CAN interface is well suited for effective networking within demanding industrial environments.
Another major characteristic of the 3IF621. 9 is the installation flexibility since it can be installed in the interface module slot of the CP260 or the IF260 / IF060. This feature makes it possible to use it in various systems' configurations. This module is quite energy efficient and employs a maximum power consumption of 1. 5 watts, this shows that it is efficient for use in sustainable industrial processes. The physical interface is provided through a 9-pin DE-9 connector for RS485/RS422 and a 4-pin multipoint for the CAN interface with both interfaces being electrically isolated.
