Designed for heavy-duty industrial control applications, the 3DM486.6/Z is a flexible I/O module with 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs. There are complete diagnostics available through LED status indicators as well as software, which includes status indicators for each I/O function per channel, Input/Output monitoring, and power supply. This module utilizes an internal 5 VDC power of about 1.2 W and an external 24 V (DO) power of approximately 2.2 W, thereby making the total power usage efficient at about 1.2 W.
Digital inputs have either sink or source input circuits with hardware input filter time ^21 ms meant for a baseline voltage of 24 VDC. Digital outputs work with a nominal current of 0.5 A per channel and a total nominal current up to 8 A at a nominal voltage of 24 VDC. These include protective mechanisms built into the source output circuits such as protection against reverse polarity on the output power supply, inductive load switching protection, and thermal shutdowns against overcurrent or short circuit conditions. It satisfies CE, UKCA, or cULus (E115267) certification requirements, making it suitable for industrial control equipment.
These ranges include -25 to +70C for storage, from 0 to 60C during operation, and five percent to ninety-five percent relative humidity range. The model meets IP20 degree of protection provided in EN60529, meaning it can withstand various environments. It can be installed in addition to base units on extension units following System2005 single-width format. With the 3DM486.6/Z, two TB718 terminal blocks have to be bought separately so that correct installation can be achieved. The available alternative terminal block solutions that provide adaptable connection solutions for different application needs include the 7TB718.9 (18-pin screw clamp terminal block) and the 7TB718.91 (18-pin cage clamp terminal block).
