B&R Industrial Automation has enhanced its 7CP CPU module series with the addition of the CP476, elevating the B&R SYSTEM 2003 to new heights with superior technical features. The CP476 boasts 750 KByte User SRAM and 1.5 MByte User FlashPROM, along with an additional I/O processor and a system bus for expansions. The CP interface accommodates four slots, while two node number switches ensure precise node settings. Compared to the CP474, this new CPU delivers a performance boost of at least 50%, thanks to a 50% higher clock frequency and the integration of an additional I/O processor. This significant enhancement reduces the interrupt load and shortens the analog update time on the left side by a factor of 2, allowing parallel processing of screw-in modules 1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4.
The CP476 supports various expansions via its system bus, including the ME010 expansion module for PCMCIA memory cards and the ME020 module, which also features a slot for B&R SYSTEM 2005 interface module inserts. Two CAN node number switches eliminate the need for offset settings, ensuring the actual node number always matches the switch setting. The CPU's status is indicated by LED displays, and it operates on a 24 VDC power supply, with pin assignments conveniently printed on the module. The electrically isolated standard field bus interface facilitates communication with other control systems and remote I/O expansion using B&R 2003 components and a CAN bus controller.
The CP476 features four slots for screw-in modules, securely attached via the CP interface. Recommended accessories include the T-connector AC911. With a typical buffer current of 2.2 uA and a maximum of 110 uA, this module ensures efficient operation. The instruction cycle time averages 0.5 us for 70% bit and 30% analog processing. This comprehensive set of features and enhancements makes the CP476 a powerful upgrade for the B&R SYSTEM 2003, providing substantial improvements in performance and versatility for industrial automation applications.
