B&R’s Automation Panel unit is built with modular interfaces and is compatible with various kinds of PC systems. The panels support the efficient transfer of image data. Each smart display unit by the manufacturer in this series is composed of an Automation Panel and the Automation Panel Link plug-in card.

The 5AP920.1505-K16 is one of the intelligent AP900 automation panels designed and manufactured by B&R. It features a thin-film-transistor color display with an XGA resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. Its touchscreen uses analog resistive technology; hence, it supports a wide range of touch inputs, including fingers and gloved hands. There are three USB 2.0 interfaces on the panel. These interfaces are the Type A variant and can reach a high-speed transfer rate of 480 Mbit/s. The current-carrying capacity of each USB interface is a maximum of 500 mA per connection.

Enclosed in a naturally anodized aluminum frame that is corrosion-resistant, the 5AP920.1505-K16 is highly durable with a visually appealing finish. Its panel overlay is made from polyester, and it has a flat gasket around the front of its display. There are thermal sensors on the display of this automation panel, and they prevent damage caused by excessively high temperatures. It features galvanic isolation and has a typical power consumption data of 24W. With an inserted Automation Panel link card, it has an IP 20 Ingress Protection rating at the back. Hence, solid extrinsic objects over 12mm will not penetrate the panel from this part. The front of the panel has an IP 65 rating according to EN 60529, indicating that it is protected from dust and hose-directed water.
