The 5D5500.06 is an extremely reliable display unit manufactured by B&R automation technology specifically for use with the IPC5000 and IPC 5600 industrial controller series. This display unit can either be directly mounted on the housing unit of the controller or installed away from the controller for remote operation as it is required for the IPC 5600 controller. The display type of this display unit is the Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display which provides better image quality and reduces eye strain during operation. The background light on the display unit is a Compact Florescent Lamp (CFT), the light brightness is about 450 candela per meter square while the lifespan is at least 50,000 hours.

The 5D5500.06 display unit has a Video Graphics Array (VGA) resolution of about 680 x 480 pixels, this resolution provides a relatively finer details, smoother gradients and a more visually pleasing representation of information. It also help operators to make out details more easily. The frame of the 5D5500.06 display unit is made from anodized aluminum, while the decor foil is made from polyester material. Also, the front side of the display is designed to provide protection according to the IP65 protection class, while the backside provides protection according to the IP20 protection category.

The 5D5500.06 display unit is expected to be used at an ambient temperature that falls between 0 to about 50 degree Celsius depending on the installation of the display, while the relative humidity should be between 5 to 85% during operation. Water condensation should not be allowed near the display unit during transportation, storage or operation. The total weight of this display unit is about 3.7 kilograms.
