The 5C4000.01 industrial controller manufactured by B & R Automation is a modern eqeuipment that suits mulitple industrial requirements owing to its advanced design. It is larger than the 5C2 series controllers as it weighs around 12 kg and it is also bigger in dimensions. The large footprint comes with water and dust proof rating of IP54 / NEMA 12 which allows it to perform at industry standard despite challenging conditions. The unit runs on a supply voltage of 90 to 260V AC, within a frequency range of 47 to 440 Hz, and consumes a power of around 170 W maximum.

The 5C4000.01 comes with a 486SLC2-25/50 processor with 16 Kb internal cache. The working memory is around 4 Mb and can be increased to about 16 Mb whereas it has no co-processor. The disk drive unit is 3.5 inch that can run a disk of 1.44 Mb and it supports two hard disks at a time of different sizes. The unit is installed using a 19 inch frame rack or door mount. Due to increased power figures, it also comes with a 3.15 A / 250 V fuse for protection against abnormal power supply. The unit supports multiple interfaces like AT compatible keyboard, connector for up to 7 keyboard modules, parallel interface, 4 electrically isolated interfaces, and a CAN interface. The display resolution is 640 * 480 pixels and it supports four different display types.
