Product Description
The 5A5001.02 is a removable hard disk designed by B&R to serve as the mass memory of the 5000 and 5600 Industrial Personal Computer (IPCs) series. This hard disk has a storage capacity of about 1.44 gigabytes, it contains more than 8000 sectors and can hold 512 bytes of data in each sector. During operation, the disk on the 5A5001.02 rotates at a speed of about 4,200 revolutions per minute, despite this high speed, the write and read head spends approximately 13 milliseconds to move from one track to the next. The access time on the disk is about 7.13 milliseconds. This sophisticated hard disk is intended to be mounted on an adapter card, during installation, and handling special care should be taken to avoid pressure on the disk surface as it is very think and can be easily damaged by pressure.
The time between the startup of the hard disk and the read access is about 4 seconds, also the switch off time is about 3 seconds. The hard disk is designed to shut down regardless of the IPCs power supply management settings if no access is made after 45 minutes. During operation, the data transfer rate to the medium is about 12.5 to 22.3 megabytes per seconds, however data transfer to and from the host can reach a peak value of 33.3 megabytes per second.
The 5A5001.02 hard disk generates approximately 36 decibels when it is in ideal mode, it also maintains a cache memory of about 512 kilobytes. The permissible ambient temperature for the operation of the hard disk is between 5 to 47 degree Celsius, if the hard disk is required for 24 hour operation, it should not be operated at an ambient temperature higher than 40 degree Celsius.
