Product Description

The 5A5000.10 is a new-generation interface board produced by B&R automation to be integrated into the Provit 5600 and 5000 Industrial Personal Computer (IPC) series. This integrated board is not a standard width Industry standard architecture (ISA) card, this makes it unsuited for operation in the ISA socket of a standard PC. The interface board features an SRAM memory with a capacity of about 256 kilobytes, and its own lithium backup battery to maintain the memory. The interface board is designed according to the IP00 protection class, to prevent damage, it should be carefully handled by a well qualified professional and should be protected from water, dust or extreme shocks. The 5A5000.10 circuit board features two combined RS232/RS484/RS422 serial interfaces (COM3 and COM4). The operating mode used is selected automatically depending on the electrical connection connected.

The connection serial interfaces integrated into this circuit board is quipped with a 16-byte First in First Out Memory, they are also compatible with UART16550 and the Plug & Play Basic Input and Output System (BIOS). The interface board can be used for more than five years without any problems and it contributes significantly to the fast operation of the IPCs.

The resources used by this interface board (Input/Output address, Interrupt) are made during the system start and can not be changed manually, it can however be changed with an ISA configuration or Windows 95/98. The PC card slot present on the interface board can be accessed when the housing of the computer is closed. Only Type I, II and

cards can be used in this slot. The use of memory cards with Tuple is recommended for this slot.
