The 4PP120.1043-31 is an advanced power panel derived from the 4PP series by B&R that offers several ports and communication interfaces. Unlike earlier versions of B&R's power panels, the 4PP120.1043-31 features a powerful Geode SC2200 32-bit x86 system processor that runs at 266 MHz. This processor dedicates 16 kB for cache, allows floating point units, and facilitates passive cooling via a built-in heat sink. The processor itself is also responsible for controlling the 4PP120.1043-31's built-in graphics during operation. The 4PP120.1043-31 offers 64 MB of DRAM and 2 MB of shared graphics memory. Aside from these features, the 4PP120.1043-31 supports numerous communication interfaces, ports, and slots.

Most of the communication interfaces, peripherals, and ports for the 4PP120.1043-31 are found on the rear side. The 4PP120.1043-31 requires a power supply with a nominal voltage of 24 V DC. The rear side of the power panel contains the reset button, USB port, COM interface, Ethernet interface, status LEDs, and CompactFlash slot. The Ethernet interface uses a MacPhyter DP83816 controller and facilitates a transfer speed of 10/100 Mbps. The serial interface COM supports the RS232 communication protocol and facilitates connection via a 9-pin DSUB. The two USB 1.1 interfaces can transfer files up to a maximum rate of 1.5 Mbit/s at low speed and 12 Mbit/s at full speed.

The 4PP120.1043-31's color TFT display has 256 colors and a contrast of 600:1. The display has a diagonal measurement of 10.4- inches (264 mm) at VGA (640 x 480 pixels) resolution. The screen employs analog resistive touch technology with a degree of transmission of 78%. The 4PP120.1043-31 has a metal casing, which contributes to its relatively larger weight of 3.7 kilograms. The front casing of the 4PP120.1043-31 has a degree of protection of IP65.
