Product Description:
The 4PP065.IF24-1 features a robust set of communication interfaces that facilitate data transfer between B&R's power panels and other devices. Specifically, the 4PP065.IF24-1 is compatible with B&R Automation's power panels under the PP65 product series line. IF24 interface modules by B&R have three communication interfaces. These communication interfaces are the RS232, RS485/RS422, and PROFIBUS DP slaves. Like other interface modules by B&R, interfaces IF1 and IF2 share the same 9-pin DSUB male plug. The interface IF1 for RS232 cannot connect to the network and can only transmit data up to a maximum speed of 115.2 kbps over 15 meters. The controller for IF1 is 16C550 compatible, which is common for UART-type controllers.
The 4PP065.IF24-1's second interface, IF2, is primarily for RS485/RS422. Unlike the first interface, IF2 is network-capable and can transmit at a maximum distance of 500 m while maintaining the same maximum transfer rate as IF1. Both IF1 and IF2 share the same connector, controller, and FIFO buffer. On the other hand, interface 3 of the 4PP065.IF24-1 is for the PROFIBUS DP slave communication interface. Although both interfaces for the 4PP065.IF24-1 use 9-pin DSUB connectors, the connector for the PROFIBUS is of female type. The controller for the PROFIBUS interface is an ASIC SPC3 with 1.5 kB of RAM. Among the three interfaces of the 4PP065.IF24-1, IF3 has the highest transfer rate at 12 Mbit/s over a maximum distance of 1000 m. Note, however, that the maximum speed decreases for longer bus lengths.
Like other interface modules by B&R that contain more than two communication interfaces, the 4PP065.IF24-1 employs LED status indicators, PROFIBUS DP slave node number switches, and terminating resistors. Finally, to make the most out of the 4PP065.IF24-1's I/O mapping function for IF2 and IF3, make sure to use Automation Studio.
Frequently Asked Questions about 4PP065.IF24-1:
Q: What ambient conditions are recommended for the 4PP065.IF24-1?
A: During operation, the 4PP065.IF24-1 must sit at an ambient temperature not greater than 50 degrees Celsius but not less than zero degrees Celsius. At transport or storage conditions, the 4PP065.IF24-1 may sit anywhere at a temperature between -25 and 70 degrees Celsius. At all times, the 4PP065.IF24-1 must not be exposed beyond a relative humidity of 10 to 90%.
Q: How much does the 4PP065.IF24-1 weigh?
A: The 4PP065.IF24-1 has a total mass of 65 grams.
Q: What data formats does the 4PP065.IF24-1 employ?
A: The 4PP065.IF24-1 employs 5 to 8 data bits, parity bits, and stop bits.
Q: Are there terminating resistors in the 4PP065.IF24-1?
A: Yes, there are two terminating resistors in the 4PP065.IF24-1. The first terminating resistor is for interface IF2, dedicated for RS485/RS422. The second terminating resistor is for interface IF3, dedicated to the PROFIBUS DP slave.
Q: How is the 4PP065.IF24-1 different from the 4PP065.IF23-1?
A: The 4PP065.IF24-1 provides RS232, RS485/RS422, and PROFIBUS DP slave interfaces. Meanwhile, the 4PP065.IF23-1, which is also an interface module for B&R's PP65 power panels, provides RS232, RS485/RS422, and CAN communication interfaces.
