The 4PP065.IF23-1 is one of the largest interface modules compatible with the PP65 product line by B&R Automation. Featuring three interfaces for RS232, RS485/RS422, and CAN communication protocols, this interface module is a top choice for many users seeking to expand their power panel's capabilities. Out of these three interfaces, interfaces one and two share the same 9-pin male DSUB connector. Focusing on interface IF1, dedicated to the RS232, the maximum transfer rate is 115.2 kbps over an identified maximum distance of 15 meters.

On the other hand, interface IF2 of the 4PP065.IF23-1 is dedicated for RS485/RS422, and it facilitates data transfer over a maximum distance of 500 meters at 115.2 kbps. Although interfaces IF1 and IF2 share the same 9-pin male DSUB connector, interface IF2 is network-capable, unlike interface IF1. Meanwhile, interface IF3 is dedicated for the CAN bus, and it facilitates communication via its 4-pin male multipoint connector. The interface IF3 supports a maximum transfer rate of 1 Mbit/s over a maximum distance of one kilometer. Depending on the bus length, the maximum transfer rate of the interface varies. For instance, at a bus length below 25 meters, the maximum transfer rate is 1 Mbit/s, while at a bus length below 60 meters but greater than 25 meters, the transfer rate is 500 kbit/s.

The 4PP065.IF23-1 also features LED status indicators and hex switches for determining the CAN bus node number. During operation, the terminating resistors on the back of the module toggle the RS485/RS422 and the CAN bus. Using automation studio, it is possible to map the input and output for interfaces IF2 and IF3.
