The 4P3040.00-K21 is a special power panel designed by B&R Automation that features touch-screen technology. It has a 10.4" thin-film transistor color display with video graphics array resolution. Display screens with VGA resolution have a corresponding pixel resolution of 640 x 480. Thin-film transistor color displays are preferable for industrial applications because of their durability, rapid response, efficiency, and touchscreen compatibility. With its display qualities and characteristics, the 4P3040.00-K21 offers enhanced data visualization for system monitoring and control. The front panel exhibits a protection category of IP 65, implying high protection against dust, particulates, and water jets.

The 4P3040.00-K21 provides extensive support for the following serial communication protocols: CAN and RS232. The RS232 communication protocol is ideal for short-distance communication and facilitates data transfer at a rate of 115.2 kBaud. On the other hand, the CAN protocol facilitates data transfer at higher baud rates over significantly longer distances. Aside from the CAN and RS232 protocols, the 4P3040.00-K21 also includes two USB ports, an optional port for Ethernet, a slot for aPCI, and a CompactFlash slot (type 1). The 4P3040.00-K21 also has six additional slots for B&R Automation's screw-in modules. Interface modules, such as the 4IF370.7, are suitable for the 4P3040.00-K21's screw-in slots.

Like other power panels from the PP41 product line, the 4P3040.00-K21 requires a nominal voltage of 24 volts DC. The power panel supports different switching voltages like 30 V or 18 V. Aside from the product itself, the 4P3040.00-K21 may come with additional accessories such as an expansion module, PCMCIA memory card, and a terminal block upon purchase. To maintain the integrity of the product, do not use and store the 4P3040.00-K21 beyond the recommended operating and storage temperature range.
