Product Description
The 4P0420.00-490 is a small power panel released by B&R Industrial Automation way back in 2004, weighing only 1.25 kilograms. It has a limited screen size, which can only display a maximum of 4 x 20 characters at a time. Even though it does not have a large screen size, however, it has several membrane keys and communication interfaces, which make it ideal for monitoring numerical data instantly. Based on its manual, the 4P0420.00-490 is 155 mm wide, 190 mm high, and 84.4 mm deep. With its construction, keypad placement, and small screen size, it almost looks like a big calculator.
Whenever operating any electrical unit, it is important to know the permissible environmental conditions under which the unit performs normally. According to B&R's user manual, the 4P0420.00-490 operates between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius. During storage or transport, the 4P0420.00-490 will not incur any internal damage as long as the ambient temperature stays between -20 and 60 degrees Celsius. Aside from the permissible temperature range, B&R's manual recommends keeping the environmental humidity between 10 and 90% non-condensing. The 4P0420.00-490's front casing has a protection category of IP 65.
Other features of the 4P0420.00-490 include 34 function keys, a 2003 CPU, a 700 kByte SRAM for the user, a 600 kByte system PROM, and a 1.4 Mbyte FlashPROM. It also supports CAN and RS232 communication protocols through its built-in interfaces. Like other power panels, it uses a 24 V supply and can handle up to 10 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs. Whenever needed, the 4P0420.00-490 provides a dedicated slot for PCMCIA, which stands for Personal Computer Memory Card International Association. The PCMCIA slot provides optional capabilities for network and modem functionalities.
