Product Description
The 4EX101.00 is the default expansion module recommended by B&R Automation for power panels belonging to the PP41 product line. The 4EX101.00 allows a specific power panel to extend or increase the number of communication interfaces available during operation. By default, most power panels created by B&R Automation only have one interface for RS232 or CAN. Some of them might also have a dedicated slot for Ethernet or PROFIBUS. For some applications, however, a particular power panel might need to communicate with a number of units greater than the number of built-in interfaces it has. For this application, an expansion module like the 4EX101.00 can solve the problem.
Expansion modules not only increase the number of communication interfaces utilizable by the power panel. Expansion modules, when paired with appropriate interface modules, can make a particular power panel communicate through a communication protocol that it does not originally have. The 4EX101.00 provides the list of supported interface modules, which in turn provide the interfaces for the needed communication protocols. Some of the 4EX101.00's supported interface modules are as follows: 3IF613.9 (3 x RS232), 3IF621.9 (1 x RS485/RS422, 1 x CAN), 3IF622.9 (1 RS232, 2 x RS485/RS422), 3IF661.9 (1 x PROFIBUS-DP Slave), 3IF671.9 (1 x RS232, 1 RS485/RS422, 1 x CAN), and 3IF672.9 (1 x RS232, 2 x CAN).
The 4EX101.00 only has one peripheral dedicated to the interface module. Based on B&R Automation's EX101 module, the 4EX101.00 is 31 mm wide, 173 mm high, and 81.4 mm deep. Aside from the dimensions of the 4EX101.00, other vital information, such as the description of interface module inserts, is documented in a separate user manual (MASYS22005-E).
