The 4EX101.00 is the default expansion module recommended by B&R Automation for power panels belonging to the PP41 product line. The 4EX101.00 allows a specific power panel to extend or increase the number of communication interfaces available during operation. By default, most power panels created by B&R Automation only have one interface for RS232 or CAN. Some of them might also have a dedicated slot for Ethernet or PROFIBUS. For some applications, however, a particular power panel might need to communicate with a number of units greater than the number of built-in interfaces it has.
