Unlike standard keypad modules by B&R under the 4E0 series, special keypad modules do not support connectivity with other keypad or display modules and controllers. The thing about special keypad modules is that they serve very specific purposes, and most of them require special circuitry of their own. The most common examples of special keypads are emergency stops, pauses, and switch buttons. The 4E0050.01-090 is a dummy or blank keypad module that includes no LEDs or keys. A blank or dummy keypad module serves two main purposes: design and protection.

As a blank keypad module, the 4E0050.01-090 may be used to provide design consistency with the system, particularly for the unused keypad slots. Furthermore, since the blank keypad module does not interrupt or affect system performance in any way, it serves as an exterior protection for the unused connection slots. Since it does not have any keypads or LEDs, the 4E0050.01-090 weighs only about 100 grams. This blank keypad module uses plastic as its main material and withstands an operating temperature range between 0 and 50 degrees C. During transportation or storage, the product may withstand a wider temperature range between -20 and 60 degrees C.
