The KL3314/PL3 from Beckhoff is one of the members of the KL Analog Input Series and is a 4-channel analog input module designed for accurate measurements for thermocouple sensors. This module supports various thermocouple types with the default setting as type K: J, K, L, B, E, N, R, S, T, U. In addition to that, it can also take mV measurements that lie within the measurement range of -30 mV up to ±120 m V and thus suitable for most industrial temperature monitoring applications. The measuring range of the module for the type K thermocouples is -100°C up to +1370°C, which supports standard thermocouples commonly used in most facilities.
The KL3314/PL3 comes with a resolution of 0.1°C per digit meaning high precision can be achieved in temperature measuring. The module also boasts of a measurement error of less than ±0.5% to assure delivering dependable data. Such modules are designed with a wiring fail indication, hence providing additional protection for the users in case connectivity went awry. Through K-bus, there is sufficient power supply provided and therefore easy integration into the Beckhoff system. The conversion time may take approximately 250 ms for on-time update of real-time temperature monitoring.
Designed for industrial use, the KL3314/PL3 works at 0°C to +55°C temperatures and its storage temperature is from -25°C to +85°C. The device also complies with EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27 standards on resistance to vibration and shock. In this sense, it has been designed to be reliable in demanding conditions. The module has 4 x 16-bit and, in some variants, optional 4 x 8-bit control/status.
