Product Description
The EPP3204-0002 is an EtherCAT P box produced by Beckhoff Automation as an improvement on the functionality of the EtherCAT industrial communication system. This box features four analog input channels, which allow resistance sensors to be connected directly. The module’s circuitry can operate the sensors using 2, 3, or 4-wire connection techniques. This module can be used for simple resistance measurement with the output in Ohms. Linearization over the full temperature range of this device can be fully selected and realized with the aid of a microprocessor. The EPP3204-0002 EtherCAT P box can detect sensor malfunctions and alert operators through the LEDs. It is a very versatile device with its default values selected so that it does not require any additional configurations in most applications. However, when required, the analogue inputs on the module box can be scaled differently.
The EPP3204-0002 EtherCAT P box features four Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD) inputs. The permissible sensor types that can be connected to this device include the platinum RTD sensors, Nickel RTD sensors and resistance/potentiometers up to 4095 ohms. For the Platinum RTD, the permissible measuring range is between -200 to 850 degrees Celsius; for the Nickel RTDs, it is between -60 to about 250 degrees Celsius. The measuring current used in the box is load-dependent, although it can reach a maximum value of 0.5 milliamperes.
Depending on the parameterization, the conversion time on the EPP3204-0002 EtherCAT P box is between 2 to about 800 milliseconds, with a default value of 85 milliseconds. The recommended ambient temperature range for the EPP3204-0002 falls between -25 to about 55 degrees Celsius. The ambient temperature range during storage is between -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.
