Product Description
The EPI1809-0021 from Beckhoff provides flexible connectivity for sensors and devices through its sixteen digital inputs. As an IO-Link enabled module from Beckhoff's acclaimed EP Digital Input Series, it offers dependable communication through the IO-Link protocol with data transmission rates up to 230.4 kbps. Weighing in at a mere 250 grams, the module maintains a compact footprint while still accommodating ample input points. Its durable design has been tested to withstand harsh industrial environments with IP65, IP66, and IP67 ratings, ensuring sustained operation even when exposed to challenging conditions.
All sixteen inputs on the EPI1809-0021 are interfaced through robust M8 screw type connectors, allowing for secure termination of solid-core field wiring. This provides a reliable seal against vibrations and contaminants entering. An adjustable input filter between 0 to 20 milliseconds allows fine-tuning the module to match the response needs of various application requirements. The inputs are suited to handle a wide nominal range of 24VDC with a tolerance of -15% to +20%, offering flexibility to work with many standard industrial networks without additional power supplies or conditioning circuitry.
In addition to precise inputs, the EPI1809-0021 also supplies sensor power of up to 500mA directly from its L+ terminal. This onboard supply eliminates the need for separate external components, streamlining sensor connections and reducing cabling. Combined with IO-Link capabilities, process engineers gain full access to condition monitoring functions, parameterization, and diagnostics of connected devices directly from their logic controllers. Data from temperature, fill level, flow, or position sensors distributed throughout an automation system can all be synchronously read with low latency.
