Product Description
The EP2349-0021 is a versatile device well-suited for applications requiring reliable digital input and output. As part of Beckhoff's EP Digital Input Series, it features 16 channels that can each handle inputs or outputs independently. Two M8 socket interfaces provide connectivity, while the device's short-circuit proof design and IP65/66/67 rating make it suitable for use in harsh industrial environments. Each of the 16 channels can source or sink up to 0.5 amps of current, and over-current protection ensures individual channels are safely isolated.
The unit utilizes EtherCAT protocol to enable seamless integration into distributed control systems. An auxiliary power rating of typical 20mA plus load current keeps the device operating efficiently even under high throughput conditions. Ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads present no issue for switching thanks to the EP2349-0021's versatile design.
User signals are processed through separate 0 and 1 voltage ranges for inputs. A 0 signal is detected between -3 and +5 volts, while a 1 registers from 11 to 30 volts. Input current remains a constant 6mA to enable reliable reading without excess current draw. For outputs, the rated 24VDC supply is accurately sourced from the load voltage within a -15% to +20% range. Devices see fast response with typical switching times of 60µs for ON and 300µs for OFF. Weighing only approximately 250 grams, the compact aluminum housing contributes to the EP2349-0021's ruggedness. Its form factor takes up minimal space yet allows installation in tight locations as needed. Vibrations present no issue according to EN 60068-2-6 testing standards. The interior components achieve an average lifetime exceeding 300,000 hours of operation in normal industrial conditions.
