Product Description
EP2028-0002 is an EtherCAT box. It is designed to allow process control by providing control signals for actuators connected to its 8 digital output channels. The box is produced by Beckhoff Automation. EtherCAT is a technology patented by Beckhoff for industrial control networks. EtherCAT operates at very high data rates (up to 100 Mbps), enabling rapid communication between devices. It supports a wide range of devices and can easily scale from small systems to large networks with numerous nodes. Its use of standard Ethernet hardware reduces infrastructure costs compared to proprietary solutions. The EP2028-0002 box supports EtherCAT connectivity. Multiple boxes can be connected in a daisy-chain configuration for connected sensors and actuators used for process control. Two separate M8 sockets on the EP2028-0002 box provide connection for the upstream and downstream EtherCAT network connections.
The box has 8 digital outputs. These outputs interface with the box via M12 connectors. The output voltage rating is 24 Volts DC. The box can supply up to 2 Amps per channel. Total current output for all channels is limited to 4 Amps. The specified ON and OFF state switching time is 200 microseconds. The specified auxiliary power current is 20 milliamps plus the load current. Electrical isolation is available for protecting personnel and equipment from electric shock. Vibration and shock resistance of the box complies with standards including EN 60068. The EMC immunity of the box complies with EN 61000. Operators can deploy the box in different installation positions. Its protection class is IP65, which ensures full dust ingress protection and robust liquid protection. Use of polyamide provides the box housing with structural strength. The box weighs 165 grams.
