Product Description
The Beckhoff digital input module, the EP2008-0001 is part of their EP Digital Input Series utilizing EtherCAT protocol for communication and operation. As an input device, it features eight channels that can each handle a maximum output current of 0.5 amps, making the design short-circuit proof for protection against faults. Weighing in at approximately 165 grams, the module is constructed for portability while still maintaining a robust IP65/66/67 environmental rating to withstand dust and moisture.
This allows the EP2008-0001 to reliably function across demanding industrial settings. Each channel connects through an M8 x 1, three-pin plug following the a-coding standard for quick installation in control cabinets or out in the field. A nominal output voltage of 24V DC with an allowable range from -15% to +20% provides a stable power source for connecting various field devices to collect sensor data and switch states.
In addition to basic ohmic and inductive loads, the inputs can also be used with indicator lamps for visualization of statuses. Power is delivered to the module through an M8 male connector on the feed side and a downstream female M8 allows further distribution through the network. Operation over an extensive temperature scope from -25°C to 60°C permits continuous monitoring in diverse atmospheric conditions without risk of malfunction. Select key features include the EtherCAT real-time communication, rugged IP protection, and flexible load compatibility, delivering a solid foundation for discrete automated processes and simple machine control applications. The module is designed to ensure seamless integration into existing systems while providing reliable connectivity and performance.
