EP1312-0001 is an industrial EtherCAT box. It is produced by Beckhoff Automation. The box is especially designed to enable the deployment of EtherCAT networks in star network topology. Multiple such boxes can be used to realize a modular EtherCAT P network with star topology. The box has junction ports that can connect to individual network devices or complete strands of EtherCAT P networks. EtherCAT P is an extension of the EtherCAT protocol. It is designed to integrate power and data transmission over a single Ethernet cable. The protocol allows devices to receive both data and power through the same 4-wire Ethernet cable. EtherCAT P branches connect to the box via screw type M8 sockets. These sockets are shielded. LEDs on the box indicate the status of the EtherCAT P line.

The EP1312-0001 supports one input EtherCAT channel, one output EtherCAT channel and two output EtherCAT P channels. Its nominal voltage rating is 24 Volts DC. The box can deliver 3 Amps total current for all EtherCAT P ports. Current consumption from the box supply is approximately 120 milliamps. The power supply is a via a M8 male socket for the downstream connection. Approximate weight of the EP1312-0001 box is 165 grams. Beckhoff recommends -25 to 60 degrees Celsius operating temperature. The specified temperature for storage is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. Housing of the unit complies with IP65 requirements. This indicates that the box provides full dust ingress protection. It also provides robust liquid ingress protection. With this protection rating, operators can install and operate the box in adverse conditions. Two mounting holes on the box housing enable installation with the help of M3 screws.
