Product Description
EP1008-0022 is an industrial EtherCAT box. It is designed and manufactured by Beckhoff Automation. The box serves as an interface between control devices on the EtherCAT network and digital sensors used for process control. Its 8 digital inputs allow connection of 8 digital sensors. The isolated signals from the sensors are transmitted to controllers connected to the high-speed EtherCAT network. M12 screw type connections are available for sensor wiring. The box supply voltage is used for sensor supply. The box can deliver up to 0.5 Amps current for all sensors. An input filter with 3 ms delay makes the EP1008-0022 box suitable for electronic and mechanical inputs that can experience signal de-bouncing. The box has two M8 sockets for the bus interface. These sockets have four pins and are shielded.
Each M12 connection>. for the sensors has five pins and supports a-coding. The nominal DC input is <<24 Volts DC. An input voltage between -3 and 5 Volts corresponds to a binary 0. An input voltage between 11 and 30 Volts corresponds to a binary 1. The typical input current per sensor is 3 milliamps. Current consumption from the box supply is 120 milliamps. Beckhoff has designed the EP1008-0022 box with 500 Volts isolation for equipment and personnel safety. The box weighs approximately 250 grams. Its housing complies with IP65 protection class. This rating indicates that the box is fully secure against dust ingress. It is also secure against water that may be directed at it from low-pressure jets. Approvals and markings for the box include CE and UL. Its approximate dimensions are 60 mm x 126 mm x 26.5 mm. Material used for box construction is polyamide.
