Product Description
The EL6851 is a DMX master terminal that enables connection of up to 32 devices without the need for a repeater. It is a product of Beckhoff Company which is renowned for the manufacture of state-of-the-art motion, control, and automation technologies. This DMX terminal uses RS485 physics which allows the connection of a terminal resistor through two-wire jumpers in the terminal. You can set the terminal to send up to 512 bytes of data via the terminal. When it reaches 250kbit/s, a maximum data rate of 44 kHz is achievable. Thanks to the electrical isolation of the RS485, high interference immunity is guaranteed.
The EL6851 can enable running of the RDM (Remote Device Management) which enables parameterization and addressing of devices. You can set the start address and data length in the CoE. It has LEDs (for Run, TxD, and RxD), DMX connection, termination power contact, GND power contacts, and shields. It has 250kbit data transfer rates and a line impedance of 120 ohms. It runs on the DMX512 protocol and its supply voltage for electronics is through E-bus.
The EL6851’s permissible conditions include an ambient operating temperature of 0 to 55 degrees Celsius, storage temperature of -25 to 85 degrees Celsius, and 95% humidity without condensation. It measures 15mm x 100mm x 70mm (W x H x D) and weighs approx. 55 g. It should be mounted on a 35mm DIN rail. During mounting, avoid stringing more than two passive terminals to mitigate data transfer obstruction. It comes with IP 20 class protection and has CE, ATEX, and cULus approvals. There are two types of watch dogs namely SM and PDI that switch off output in case of an interruption.
